Delivery of Quality Programmes

  • Capacity Building of staff and volunteers in safeguarding awareness, response and best practice
  • Chairing local safeguarding and Incident Management working groups
  • Supporting in development of risk assessments, co-designing projects and programmes to ensure safeguarding and safety are embedded at all levels.

Responsibility & Accountability for Safeguarding and Safety

  • Responsible for the overall Safeguarding function
  • Ensuring all safeguarding standards are being met, improved and reviewed.
  • Representing Restless Development at relevant forums
  • Contribute to the upkeep and review of relevant policies such as the agency’s Safeguarding policy
  • Attending Quarterly Hub leadership team meetings
  • Attending and delivering at Quarterly Staff Workshops
  • Maintaining relevant areas on our induction site related to safeguarding and security.

Compliance

  • Responsible for all risk assessments and mitigation related to safeguarding and safety
  • Compiling quarterly safety and safeguarding report for management
  • Escalating incidents to relevant authorities where applicable
  • Ensure that safeguarding training is delivered to staff and volunteers effectively
  • Ensuring all relevant documentation is in order

Other

  • You will be required, at times, to be available outside of office hours to which you will be compensated with time off in lieu.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Commitment to Restless Development’s values and mission.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and ability to apply/adapt this in different settings
  • Experience of writing, delivering and overseeing safeguarding training
  • Ability to review and develop policies and procedures to ensure best practice in this area is embedded.
  • The ability to be able to respond calmly and logically to challenging situations
  • Strong communicator who can influence and challenge colleagues to consider new ways of working.

Desirable

  • Relevant experience in supporting safeguarding in a similar position ideally in an International Development setting
  • Understanding of risk and how to respond and mitigate it in local and international settings.
  • Understanding of how to manage the safety of people working in diverse and often rural communities
  • Experience of volunteer management
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with different teams on complex matters.
