To ensure that occupational safety, health, and environmental standards are adhered to, and to carry out day to day inspections of the facility and assisting in implementing safe practices and operations.
Reports to: Site Manager / Assistant Manager SHE & Security

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safety Officer will be required to perform the following tasks:
Assist in Risk Assessments
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace and help document risk assessment findings and assist in the development of mitigation strategies.
• Assist in conducting Toolbox talks in various sections.
Inspections
• Perform routine and planned inspections of work areas

• Assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions to address identified hazards.
• Ensure that company safety and environmental policies adhered to.
• Assist the supervisor in conducting PTO’s (Plan Task observation)
• Keep Safety boards updated.
• Ensure safe working Behaviour is practiced by all employees.
Accident Investigations
• Assist with the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, study possible causes and recommend remedial action.
Support Safety Training and Education
• Assist in organizing and conducting safety training sessions for employees, including new hire orientation and refresher courses.
Continuous Improvement – Audits
• Knowledge in implementation, maintaining and auditing of ISO 45001 and ISO14001 Management Systems.
Legal and other requirements
• Knowledge in relevant safety related acts, legislations, by-laws, and other Regulations.
Documentation
• Ensure that Safety related communication is communicated regularly and filed accordingly.

Qualifications & Experience
• Grade 12 Certificate
Minimum of a Diploma in a Safety related field
Minimum experience of 3 years in Mining/Factory/Industrial environment.
Valid driver’s license.
Member of the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety association. (ZOHSA)
