Duties and responsibilities
1.Project management/management:
- Plan and monitor projects especially for research and follow up the LAO with the OFAC consortium members,
- Co-supervise consultants and interns involved in the implementation of OFAC-CE project.
- Develop and contribute to the preparation of donor reports,
- Coordinate the organization of workshops, meetings, and virtual discussions.
2.Research design, data collection and analysis:
- Conduct research with CIFOR-ICRAF team in partnership with national and international universities, especially within OFAC-CE project,
- Contribute to the development of detailed methodologies for data collection and analysis,
- Contribute to the organization of CIFOR scientific hosted events,
- Contribute to the design of complementary studies on topics identified by stakeholders on biodiversity resources management in central Africa,
- Provide GIS preliminary expertise for the project as needed.
- Promote the use of knowledge in the operating methods of targeted stakeholders and in the development, implementation of public policies in Central Africa,
- Update the website scientific information on forest and biodiversity
3.Resource mobilization:
- Contribute to proposal writing and fund-raising activities.
4.Finance management:
- Manage projects’ resources as needed by CIFOR’s procedures and regulations.
Requirements
- PhD in Forestry, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related fields
- At least 5 years of research experience in biodiversity, forestry or conservation.
- Interesting background on monitoring biodiversity or forest ecosystem management,
- Understanding principles, practices and policies for preserving species, ecosystems and genetic diversity.
- Familiarity with practices balancing human needs and forest health, such as selective logging and reforestation
- Understanding the benefits forests provide, including carbon sequestration, water cycling and soil conservation
- Skills in data collection, analysis and reporting on biodiversity and forest management.
- Participation in international projects or policy development.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (R, GIS, etc.)
- Good understanding of policy and regulatory frameworks
- Experience with project management and funding.
- Good communication and collaboration abilities.
- Basic knowledge on gender issues and gender-sensitive research and project development.
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Terms and conditions
• This is a Locally Recruited position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency commensurate with skills and experience.
• The duty station will be Yaoundé, Cameroon.
