Duties and responsibility for this position will include but not limited to the following.
- Provide advice, support and assistance to operations to enable them manage their environmental responsibilities.
- Assist with training of Barrick employees, contractors, and others.
- Effective implementation of the Environmental Data Management System in operational areas, including managing statutory data responsibilities and reporting requirements.
- Upkeep and maintenance of developed management and compliance systems.
- Lead, develop Environmental Engineers, and Technicians, as assigned, by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation and reporting of collected data to Barrick management and Governmental agencies.
- Coordinate rehabilitation program and reclamation cost estimation as per Barrick Standard and Regulatory requirement.
- Analyze and synthesize reports from environmental monitoring data.
- Ability to regularly walk outdoors on uneven and weather affected surfaces
To be considered for the position, one must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Degree in Science or Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mine Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Five (5) years experience in environmental management with a minimum of three (3) years in an industrial setting, including regulatory agency interactions.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Supervisory experience in a related field will be an added advantage.
