- To be responsible for Financial and Statutory reporting
- To be responsible for supervising and developing the team (Financial Accountant, Accounts Payable Supervisor, Account Clerk)
- To be the contact for internal and external auditors in their area of responsibility
- To be responsible for primary review of general ledger reconciliations in their area of responsibility.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Review and responsible for the following balance sheet reconciliations:
- Cash Accounts
- Prepayments
- Finished Goods & Ore Stockpile Valuation Accounts
- Warehouse Inventory, Open Rotable Repairs, Goods in Transit, Obsolete Stock Provision Accounts and ensure Inventory Revaluation is clear.
- Accounts Payable Account and ensure Purchase Variance Clearing Account and Accounts Payable Suspense are clear.
- Goods Received Not Invoiced
- Consignment Inventory Control
- Accounts Payable Other
- Shipments Accounts
- Interest Bearing Debt Accounts
- Asset Restoration Obligation Account
- Develop, maintain and enforce financial controls in their area of responsibility.
- Prepare financial statements
- Coordinate internal and external audits in their area of responsibility
- Coordinate monthly group reporting in their area of responsibility.
- Team supervision in their area of responsibility
- Oversee preparation of statutory reports (e.g. BOZ, Ministry of Mines, ZEITI)
- Maintain production statistics
- Oversee the mine plan in the budgeting/forecasting process including stock valuations and stripping calculations.
- Provide coaching and appraise the performance of direct reports
- Work closely with the Mining and Processing departments in reviewing/reconciling monthly mining and production figures
- Maintain accounting/valuation models
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Experience required to perform in this job
The Senior Financial Accountant will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
Analytical skills and working with volumes of data
Well-rounded understanding of Mining operations
Expert knowledge international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations (e.g. Companies’ Act, Tax laws etc.)
Good command of the English Language (speaking and writing)
Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
Qualificationsls
- Degree in Accounting and full professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CA Zambia, ACCA, ZICA etc.)
- Minimum five (5) years of accounting experience
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). Is a must
- All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
