Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Corporate Audit Manager, the job holder will: –
- Executes the internal audit plan for FINCA Malawi to ensure that areas allocated to are completed as and when expected.
- Documents processes, identifies significant risk points and key controls of assigned department or functional area within the allocated time.
- Determines scope of review and helps in establishing risk-based audit programs in conjunction with the Corporate Audit Manager.
- Reviews the suitability of internal control design and effectiveness and conducts audit testing of specified area and identifies value adding reportable issues and dimension of risk.
- Determines compliance with policies and procedures including legal.
- Drafts comprehensive and complete report of audit findings for an audit area within specified timeframe.
- Obtains and reviews evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented.
- Develops and/or reviews audit comments to ensure they are properly composed, complies with the established guidelines, and that recommendations are relevant and practical.
- Prepares the exit meeting agenda and presentation, leads the exit meeting, develops the discussion draft of the audit report, and submits the draft to the Corporate Audit Manager for review, comments, and approval.
- Follows up on audit findings to ensure their timely and proper disposition.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other corporate auditors, FINCA Management in general, bank examiners and external auditors.
- Informs the Audit Manager in a timely manner of the progress and issues identified during the audit.
- Is responsible for the overall and on-going communication with the Corporate Audit Manager, Division Audit Director, and the Management of the Subsidiary. When requested or in absence of Corporate Audit Manager, communicates also with the Audit Committee.
- Immediate response and report of any facts, rumors or charges of misuse or misappropriation of funds and assets.
- Coordinates and completes special audit requests, projects, and other responsibilities or projects as assigned by Corporate Audit Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
Ideal profile:
Professional/Academic
- Degree or Diploma plus advanced ACCA/ICAM stages completed.
Professional Qualifications
- ACCA fundamental level completed, plus professional level.
- A member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), CIA qualified or advanced stage of the qualification
- Professional qualifications in audit related fields, i.e., CIA, CISA, and CFE will be an added advantage (Or progress towards qualification).
Work Experience
- 5 years and above in a busy internal/ external auditing environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Working knowledge of business and financial processes and internal controls.
- Working knowledge of the audit cycle.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of Integrity.
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
