To teach, supervise students and conduct research and publish
(a)Duties and Responsibilities.
 Prepares well research lectures and delivery them to the undergraduate and post
graduate students
 Sets test, examinations and course works
 Administers and invigilates tests and examinations
 Marks tests, course works and examinations scripts, compiles and grades
examination results
 Guides and advises students on their academic performance
 Attend to student non-academic challenges and refers those that need further
counseling and guidance.
 Conducts research and disseminates research findings through conferences,
seminars and publications
 Supervises undergraduate and post graduate students undertaking research
projects
 Conducts seminars and tutorials
 Carries out official administrative duties in the department as directed by the
Head of Department
 Contributes to the University and wider society through community service
(b) Person Specifications.
 Holds a PhD in History from a recognized institution.
 Holds a relevant Master’s degree in History.
 Possesses a Bachelor of Arts with Education/Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of
Teacher Education (History Major) with a minimum of upper second class from a
recognized institution.
 Has reputable teaching experience of not less than six years in the subject area in a
recognized university.
 Has published at least three articles in peer reviewed journals or one book or three
book chapters in specialty area in the last three years.
