To support training programs, development, control and management of library and information
services for the University.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I) Processes of library information materials (books and non-book materials).
II) Prepares and takes charge of Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) and current awareness services.
III) Processes Library materials for selection, acquisition and retrieval.
IV) Markets the Institutional repository to stakeholders
V) Assigns submission rights to users in the institutional repositories
VI) Edits the digitized information materials in preparation for archiving
VII) Editing and approving of information materials in the institutional repositories
VIII) Guides users in the self-archiving process
IX) Supervises and appraises staff in line with the Human Resource policy.
X) Carries out research as appropriate
XI) Performs any other duties assigned from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
The applicant must possess the following:
a) PhD in Library and Information Science, or Information Systems, or Information Technology or
Library Science or a related field from a reputable Academic Institution.
b) Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or Information Systems, or Information
Technology or Library Science or Records and Information Management or a related field from
a reputable Academic Institution.
c) Bachelor of Library and Information Science, or Information Systems, or Information Technology or Library Science or Records and Information Management or a related field from a reputable Academic Institution.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
a) Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
b) Ability to handle multiple assignments and tasks efficiently.
c) Proficient in library management software (ILS), digital resource management, and Microsoft
Office Suite.
d) Commitment to continuous professional development and user-centred services.
WORK EXPERIENCE
I) Minimum of six [06] years of professional experience in a library setting, three (03) of which
should be in a supervisory or management role in a reputable organisation.
II) Experience with collection development, cataloguing, and reference services.
III) Demonstrated ability to manage library systems and integrate new technologies and emerging
trends in Library.
IV) Familiarity with emerging trends in library science and technology is an added advantage.
V) Expertise in specific areas such as archives, digital libraries, or special collections is an added
advantage.
VI) Experience in budget management and strategic planning is an added advantage.
AGE LIMIT
The applicant must be forty-five (45) years old or below at the time of application.
TENURE OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment shall be on permanent terms upon successful completion of a probationary period of
6 (six) months (where applicable).
