Business Manager (Chairman’s Office) is responsible for must therefore ensure successful
delivery in the context of:
- Diversifying telco-to-techo landscape.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Manager: Business Manager (Chairman’s Office) is responsible to achieve the
following objectives:
Operational Delivery
- Manage the operations of the Chairman’s office with effectiveness understanding the importance required by the governance structures in place to facilitate the smooth running of the Board.
- Assist in preparing Governance guidance notes in respect of policies and standards to drive implementation and efficiencies across the relevant functions and stakeholders that engage with the office of the Chairman.
- Support the Chairman in ensuring the that the Board has access to information regarding market communications, financial performance of the businesses,
- shareholder, legal and operational issues by coordinating, preparing and collating information in a succinct manner.
- Assess the urgency and importance of situations/scenarios and take the appropriate action to determine the necessary level of involvement by the Chairman.
- Participate in discussions on the development, integration and enablement of objectives and operations in the Chairman’s office.
- Assist in preparing guidance notes in respect of policies and standards to drive implementation and efficiencies across the relevant functions and stakeholders
- Conduct research for inputs used in the development of verbal and written material obtaining interesting facts and statistics. Seek guidance from internal stakeholders with required expertise on identified topics.
- Manage initiatives and project delivery originating from and impacting the Chairman’s Office. Identify opportunities to integrate approaches and solutions for related activities and stakeholders and ensure delivery against timeline and budget requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Prepare and draft critical correspondence, presentations, reports with attention to detail. Ensure appropriate and timely communication between the Chairman and internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyse, gather, and summarize a variety of business and market information that will be used in discussions and engagement collateral and to inform sound decision-making.
- Interrogate documents for Chairman’s review to ensure quality control and compliance to MTN policies.
- Synthesise and communicate ideas effectively adjusting language and terminology to appropriate levels based on target audience.
- Facilitate and prepare presentations to be delivered by the Chairman in Strategic Leadership sessions and external eminence engagements.
- Liaise with Board members, Executives and other stakeholders on the Chairman’s behalf.
- Work closely with the CEO’s office and the Company Secretariat team to achieve the Chairman’s deliverables.
- Provide oversight and management of activities in the Chairman’s office such as conferences, team branding and culture socialisation, drive high performing and collaborative team spirit across the Group and Operating Countries Teams.
- Enhance organisational knowledge sharing by sourcing experts/facilitators and running Thought Leadership Sessions for relevant business stakeholders that enable operations of the Chairman’s Office.
- Collaborate with HR Business & Finance Business Partners to achieve departmental and MTN Group goals.
Budgets and Reporting
- Collate and prepare monthly activity and project reports from the different units within the assigned department for the Chairman’s review and input.
- Track budgets and payments on required systems for Chairman’s Office.
Staff and Leadership Management
- Develop a culture of strong collaboration and effective team working.
- Encourage knowledge transfer through the implementation of a knowledge transfer plans and drive continuous improvement philosophy.
- Promote an ‘MTN centric’ and ‘partnership approach’ to develop strong relationships with other working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Minimum 4-year Academic Degree Qualification
- Post Graduate qualification (MBA / Masters advantageous)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a seasoned Management Consultant, or Business Manager involved in Strategy Development and Execution
- Proven track record to have worked across diverse cultures and geographies
- Proven track record in managing internal stakeholders across multiple functions and external parties
- Working in a Group company environment
