Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a Government semi-autonomous Agency under Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act, 2019 Cap 200 as amended. The Agency is dedicated to the conservation and management of Uganda’s wildlife and protected areas. The Mission of UWA is “To conserve, economically develop, and sustainably manage the wildlife and protected areas of Uganda in partnership with neighboring communities and stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.” UWA, an equal opportunity employer wishes to recruit high caliber, self-motivated and results- oriented Ugandan nationals to fill the following positions.
o provide strategic leadership and guidance in the Management of Human Resources of the Authority. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Providing technical guidance in the formulation, review and interpretation of HR policies, plans, strategies, guidelines, procedures and regulations for the Authority.
Coordinating the development of human resource plans of the authority.
Developing appropriate performance management systems for the Authority. Managing the payroll of the Authority. Taking lead and coordinating the deployment and transfer of staff in the Authority.
Coordinating the development and management of a staff reward, motivation and retention strategy. Developing models of best practice for efficiency and effectiveness of the Human Resource. Coordinating the development of the collective bargaining and negotiation agreements with trade Unions.
Coordinating the Implementation decisions of the Board Developing training strategies for the continuous professional development of staff. Conducting research and HR analytics for informed decision making.
Establishing disciplinary and grievance management mechanisms for the Authority Coordinating the development of an effective and secure records management system.
Coordinating the preparation of annual work plans and periodic reports; Supervising and appraising staff.
Persons Specifications a. Qualifications
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Arts, or Commerce (Management) or Business Administration (Human Resource) from a recognized University.
A Master’s Degree in any of the above fields or Management Science Majoring in Human Resource Management or relevant professional qualification from a recognized Institution.
b. Experience At least twelve (12) years’ relevant working experience in HR practice, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Manager, Human Resource from a reputable Organization.
