Job Purpose Statement
To enable the execution of Compliance Risk Management processes and activities within EBKL to ensure that business is undertaken in a compliant manner to avoid operational losses, fines, penalties, or reputational damage to the organization and enable the competitive advantage of the bank. The job involves enterprise-wide coordination of identification and management of all compliance risks and will include propagating, monitoring, and reporting on compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Key Accountabilities

- Assist in timely preparation and circulation of required periodic compliance and financial crime reports to Regulators, Management and Executive Committees, the Board, and the Board Risk Audit Committee (BRAC) particularly regarding the compliance performance of the bank.
- Support the Head of Compliance in coordination of the Defence Council initiatives, and other compliance governance forums.
- Support the Head of Compliance in the preparation of concise packs for presentation to the Board Risk Committee.
- Develop, track and report on the progress of the compliance monitoring plans for the business area to identify significant compliance breaches, exposures, and potential areas of improvement.
- Oversee audits and inspections, coordinating responses to findings and implementing recommendations.
- Maintain a tracker of all issues raised from regulatory inspections, internal and external auditors.
- Assist to coordinate Risk and Control Self-Assessment on the level of Compliance within the department and organization.
- Develop, track and report on the progress of the compliance monitoring plans for the business to identify significant compliance breaches, exposures, and potential areas of improvement.
- Report all material compliance issues, using the established escalation and reporting mechanisms and processes to ensure these issues are resolved swiftly and therefore minimizing the impact of any financial or reputational damages.
- Track the mandatory Compliance-related trainings e.g. AML, ABC trainings.
- Assist to maintain closure packs of any Compliance issues that have been conclusively closed.
- Implement Board risk appetite metrics, revise and consolidate Compliance Risk Management framework and implement applicable policies and procedures.
- Assist to spearhead administrative activities of compliance department.
- Together with CX, assist in prompt resolution of customer complaints
Qualifications
Work Experience:
- At least six (10) years’ banking experience in with 5 years in operations and/or risk and controls
General Competencies
- Negotiation, Strategizing, Collaboration, attention to detail, listening skills
Technical Competences
- Analytics, Business intelligence, financial analysis, Proficiency in MS Applications including presentation skills.
