Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Transformation Officer, the role holder will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and designated business units, driving talent management, organizational development, performance management, employee relations and employee engagement initiatives that align human capital strategies with business goals while fostering a high-performance culture.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the Chief People & Culture Transformation Officer, and senior leadership, aligning with business goals and best practices, driving a compelling employee value proposition while addressing current and future human capital needs.
- Drive initiatives to promote a positive organizational culture, fostering employee engagement with the aim of improving staff retention and enhance the employee experience.
- Drive the successful execution of talent planning and employee development programs for designated business units, partnering with line managers to enhance staff competencies.
- Design and execute leadership development programs that build management capabilities and prepare high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
- Provide guidance to line management on how to achieve a high-performance culture within the bank through various interventions such as coaching, counselling, career development and disciplinary action were appropriate.
- Design and implement HR solutions aligned with business objectives, optimizing resource allocation across the designated business units to drive the success of the Bank.
- Cascade core HR processes (e.g., performance management, talent reviews, employee relations, etc.) to business units and ensure that they are clearly communicated, understood, and adhered to by line managers and staff.
- Provide advisory services to Staff and Line managers on employment legislation, manage employee relations, and drive compliance with relevant laws and regulations to promote a harmonious workplace and uphold regulatory standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related fields.
- A postgraduate diploma in HRM is a must.
- Member of the HRMAU.
- CIPD is an added advantage.
- 10 years of experience in Human Resources.
- Expert knowledge of the Uganda labour laws and familiarity with the International Labour laws.
- Good understanding of the general HR Operations.
- Ability to use independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload and work with confidential materials and employee information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Strong business acumen; strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Ability to engage, inspire, and influence people.
- A good command of Microsoft packages.
- High business acumen.
