The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
- Operate the geological compass; pull test machine, Schmidt hammer, tape extensometer and shotcrete machine.
- Conduct QA/QC inspections on ground support.
- Conduct geotechnical inspections.
- Carry out underground mapping, core logging and plotting.
- Operate and maintain all geotechnical tools and equipment.
- Supervise work of Stope Checkers and Assistant Rock Mechanics officers.
- Liaise with Rock Mechanic Engineers and mining officials on a daily basis.
- Prepare weekly inspection reports and compile monthly support census reports.
- Drive the health, safety and environment standards/policy awareness and practice in the Department to ensure compliance.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- Diploma in mining Engineering/Rock Mechanics or equivalent (Degree will be an added advantage).
- Should be a Blasting License and First Aid Certificate holder.
- Two (02) years practical mining experience in rock mechanics operations.
- Basic knowledge of the Zambian Mining Regulations.
- Knowledge of mining draughting, geology, ventilation and accident prevention.
- All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and corporate objectives.
