The Enterprise Architect will deliver the EA method, templates & playbooks that informs technical design and supports the delivery of business capabilities on one more of our online platforms – web portal, mobile app, USSD, chat & other digital channels.

The Enterprise Architect will deliver the EA method, templates & playbooks for end-to-end technical design of the sales and service journeys across a diverse set of products including mobile, broadband, gaming, video, content, IOT, mobile money, insurance.

Delivery teams operate in a squad and deliver capabilities and feature sets using the agile way of work. The Enterprise Architect must provide the necessary leadership to support the development of the technical solutions and must ensure that the solutions meet business needs and align with architectural standards & guidelines.

The Enterprise Architect will produce designs for managing the organization’s portfolio of “to be” and “as is” solutions — including systems (applications, processes and information), shared infrastructure services, and shared application service components to enable and drive targeted business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Planning: Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint, encompassing both current and future state architectures, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Application Design: Understanding of telecommunications applications and infrastructure, including BSS, OSS, and specific NSS components, to meet performance, reliability, and scalability design requirements.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their applicability to improve our network and services.
  • Security: Implement and oversee network security measures, ensuring data protection and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, product managers, and IT professionals, to drive architectural decisions and project implementations.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate and select technology vendors and partners, managing relationships to ensure quality and cost-effective solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, diagrams, and standards to facilitate communication and understanding across the organization.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor application performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Compliance: Ensure that application architecture and operations comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Application Portfolio Management:
    • Aligning Strategy: Ensuring that technology aligns with business goals, which APM data informs.
    • Selecting Technology: Choosing new applications that fit seamlessly into the existing portfolio.
    • Governance: Establishing and enforcing architectural standards, with APM data guiding compliance.
    • Roadmap Planning: Creating technology roadmaps, using APM insights to prioritize changes.
    • Risk Management: Mitigating technology-related risks using APM’s security and compliance data.
    • Optimization: Streamlining, integrating, or retiring applications based on APM analysis to improve efficiency.
    • Vendor Management: Collaborating with procurement teams based on APM’s evaluation of third-party vendors.
    • Communication: Bridging IT and business, explaining the impact of tech decisions informed by APM.
    • Innovation: Identifying areas for technology innovation using APM insight

Architecture Delivery:

  1. Translates Business Strategy into Enterprise & Solutions Architecture 
    • Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes.
    • Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
    • Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
    • Analyzes the technology industry, competitors and market trends, and determines their potential impact on the enterprise.
    • Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs to help the architecture review board (ARB) assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT estate.
    • Acts as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes.
  2. Facilitates and Collaborates to Deliver Business Outcomes
    • Works closely with the program management office (EPMO) and squad to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product lifecycle.
    • Works closely with the product owners and product managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Provides consulting support to application architects within agile teams to ensure the project or product is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
    • Consults with application and infrastructure development projects and products to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions architecture.
    • Supports a community of practice (CoP), guiding and helping agile teams, product owners, and application architects to align with the overall enterprise architecture governance and assurance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Enterprise Architect Professional (CEAP)
  • TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) Certification
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • TM Forum knowledge and/or certifications
  • Optional – Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

Experience:

  • Proven experience (8+ years) in telecommunications architecture, a minimum of five years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.
  • Experience working in a Telecoms, Retail, Video, Content, Gaming industry is advantageous.
