Key Responsibilities:
1. Health and Safety Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the facility to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Provide safety training and awareness programs for all employees.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
2. Environmental Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Manage waste disposal, recycling programs, and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain records of environmental performance and prepare necessary reports.
3. Food Safety:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of food safety management systems (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Conduct regular food safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to monitor product safety and quality.
- Address and resolve any food safety issues or non-compliance incidents.
4. Employee Safety:
- Develop and implement employee safety programs and initiatives.
- Conduct safety training sessions for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees.
- Promote a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
- Monitor employee health and safety performance and provide feedback.
5. Property Protection:
- Ensure the security and safety of the facility, equipment, and other assets.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Coordinate with security personnel to manage access control and surveillance systems.
6. Certification Management:
- Maintain and renew all relevant safety, health, and environmental certifications.
- Prepare for and facilitate external audits by certification bodies.
- Ensure compliance with certification standards and implement necessary improvements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a SHE role, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of SHE regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SHE management software.
