To install, inspect, repair and maintain all the electrical parts contained in a heavy mobile / fixed equipment. Upholding safety and ensuring efficiency and a high work quality output to improve operational performance and contribute to optimum production levels.
In This Role You Will:
Electrical Maintenance
- Execute on electrical maintenance tasks for completion, arising out of schedules received from the Shift Supervisor.
- Generate a work order before the remedial or repair work is carried out.
- Attend to items on the maintenance planning schedule, as and when required.
- Troubleshoot technical and / or operational problems.
- Conduct in-depth investigations into faults affecting equipment operations and process flows.
- Diagnose and repair electrical power and control systems, AC/DC and associated electrical equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on all electrical equipment, in line with approved maintenance standards.
- Diagnose and repair welding plants AC systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on all electrical equipment and ensure effective functioning, including but not limited to maintenance of drills, shovel and support equipment.
- Perform a variety of other maintenance tasks, such as electrical preventive maintenance.
- Perform installations, maintenance and repair activities, in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Read and utilise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams and circuit diagrams.
- Utilise hand tools, portable electrical tools and maintenance shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Check that daily and rotational quality targets are achieved, including First Stop After PM (FSAPM), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repairs (MTTR).
- Request services from other departments as required.
- Provide information with regards to maintaining sufficient spare availability and stock levels.
- Test repaired equipment to determine the extent of effective functioning, including but not limited to maintenance of MCC’s, motors, Light plant , pumps, welding plant AC system and other Auxiliary fleets.
- Complete all tasks identified in the Processing Operations MOS Elements to the specified quality and timeliness as assigned to this role.
- Confirm that tag-outs / lock-outs are in place when disconnecting / connecting and removing electrical components.
Trouble shooting
- Carry out daily inspections and record all findings.
- Check all malfunctioned electrical systems and conduct root cause analysis in order to diagnose whether to repair or replace.
- Analyse specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within OEM specifications and in accordance with local codes.
- Strive to reduce downtime and minimize costs.
Solutions Analysis
- Examine all malfunctioned electronics and machines and diagnose whether to fix or replace.
- Analyse specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within OEM specifications and in accordance with local codes.
- Provide a hands-on solution for electrical faults and defects to equipment and machinery
- Produce daily reports indicating the jobs completed for the day and submit the report to the shift Supervisor.
Health, Safety and Environment
- Comply with all Health & Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility requirements under Newmont’s Integrated Management System.
- Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his / her supervision.
- Provide hands-on assistance during operations activities and ensuring that safe work practices are followed.
- Inspect the equipment to check and identify any electrical and basic mechanical risks.
- Deliver own prescribed outcomes and / or provide support services, by applying Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environment systems, policies and protocols.
Report
- Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
- Produce daily reports indicating the jobs for the day and submit the report to the Supervisor.
- Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Electrical Engineering Technician certificate.
- Electrical Trade training, apprenticeship.
- MINCOM certified as Inspection Engineer as an advantage.
Additional Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes.
- Sound knowledge of electrical maintenance principles and industry standards.
- Knowledge of the work management process.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ electrical maintenance experience in a mining equipment 12-24volts / plant electricals 240-415volts.
- Wide ranging experience across various voltage electrical works – extra-low, low and high.
