• Provide specialized assistance, within own areas of expertise, on technology and support for: ISP Operations (network & services); ISP SAl as required to plan, build/change the ISP Network
Detail planning requirements and ensure Implementation, Integration of new systems into the network
• Ensure the upgrading of existing systems)
• Support systems to achieve the Company set Key Performance Indicators (KPI-99.999% Availability).
• Take responsibility for action and decisions concerning the prompt restoration or provision of service in full or partial system failures
• Responsible for identifying problems, documenting and solving issues, and working on projects that really make a difference to how we operate
• Configuration management and system orchestration (Puppet, Ansible, GIT, CVS, SVN)
• Document system configuration and changes in system configuration.
• Design and Implement highly available load balanced solutions
• Analyse performance trends and failure impacts on service
• Designing and implementing core ISP services:
RADIUS (radiator, freeradius),
authoritative and caching DNS (BIND, Unbound, GDNSD),
inbound and relay SMTP (exim, postfix, sendmail, opensmtpd),
webservers (Apache, Nginx)
databases (postgresql, mysql, couchdb, redis)
• Design, deploy and maintain of server infrastructure, virtualisation environment, storage network and application-level network services
• Replacing and upgrading of end-of-life systems.
• Maintain knowledge of various vendors hardware/software product lifecycles.
Plan and execute the upgrade and replacement of hardware/software before end-of-life
• Research, architect and implement new technologies in line with business needs to assist productivity and functionality of other teams and redundancy of network systems.
Maintaining knowledge of current technology trends
Testing new technology and software in the lab and establish fitness for MTN use.
Constantly learning and evaluating technological skills as is relevant to a Tier 1 ISP.
Document all areas of responsibility and Maintain 3 year degree/diploma in IT or Computer Systems
Microsoft Certified Professional or Systems Engineer
RedHat Certified Systems Engineer
Certifications across various vendors that make up the infrastructure (MCITP, VCP, CCNP, RHCE, LPI and more)
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years general systems administration experience in an UNIX environment and work experience in an ISP
• At least 3 years’ experience in system administration on Windows/Unix/Linux platforms (Server 2008 and above, FreeBSD, RedHat/Debian)
• Experience working in a medium size organization
