Nation Media Group is Uganda’s most influential media house, operating NTV, the biggest and most popular English-language television station and Spark TV, the first female-focused, and fastest growing television station in Uganda. It also operates the Daily Monitor, Saturday Monitor, Sunday Monitor and The East African Newspapers, 93.3 KFM, 90.4 Dembe FM and Nation Courier service.
We are looking for a qualified, experienced and result oriented professional to fill the following vacancy
JOB PURPOSE:

To produce our flagship sports shows on our broadcast platforms and ensure that they contribute to public discourse. The jobholder will work closely with the Sports Desk to identify debate themes and guests with interesting perspectives. They will ensure that our sports programming is inclusive, provides a diversity of views and viewpoints, and is professionally managed in line with the Nation Media Group Editorial Policy Guidelines.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to plan support all sports shows and news with editing and content
• Create a plan for the company sports content to gain traction in the digital media realm
• Plan and create a docket for sports news, events and shows, in conjunction with reporters
• Read and edit TV scripts
• Sit down and discuss with presenters the plan for the shows to suit the audience
• Manage and supervise TV equipment assigned to the sports reporters
• Plan, prepare and coordinate production of current affairs programming in line with the NMGU strategic objectives.
• Brief, debrief, guide and monitor sports show hosts and presenters to ensure content is aligned to the NMG Editorial Policy and Guidelines.
• Conduct quality control of content before broadcasts in line with the editorial policy.
• Tailor content to meet audience needs and consumption habits on digital platforms. Use audience insights to refine content strategies and improve user experience.
• Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Academic: Degree in journalism or a related field.
Professional: Post-graduate training in media, communications or diplomacy.
Experience: At least five years of experience creating or curating content, and excellent command of English.

• Ability to work within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have a good eye for detail.
• Excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
• Knowledge of digital media and social media ecosystem is an added advantage.
