The Digital Financial Services Strategy and Result Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and long-term plans of a dynamic digital financial services company. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing corporate strategies to support growth objectives and maintain a competitive advantage. The Strategy and Result Manager collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, leads cross-functional teams, and ensures efficient operational strategies are implemented.

Purpose of the job:

The purpose of the Strategy and Result Manager role is to contribute to the overall success of the organization by driving strategic initiatives, ensuring effective planning processes, and promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The role plays a critical part in shaping the company’s long-term direction, optimizing operational performance, and identifying growth opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Strategy Development:

  • Gather and analyze information from various internal and external sources to develop strategic options.
  • Lead the formulation of the company’s strategic vision and ensure alignment across all business functions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Identify emerging industry trends and technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Develop and communicate the strategic plan to key stakeholders, ensuring clarity and buy-in.
  • Monitor the implementation and progress of strategic initiatives, making adjustments as necessary.

2. Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a decentralized activity planning process across the organization.
  • Lead the development of corporate plans and budgets, translating strategic priorities into actionable plans.
  • Support the strategic planning process, ensuring it is timely, focused, and adds value.
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions with cross-functional teams to align goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of strategic initiatives, identifying areas of improvement or risk.
  • Develop and maintain strategic planning frameworks and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with department heads to integrate departmental plans into the overall strategic framework.
  • Conduct regular strategic plan reviews to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.

3. Performance Management:

  • Establish and manage the KPI infrastructure to analyze performance against plans and objectives.
  • Prepare performance reports for leadership and facilitate cross-functional performance reviews.
  • Coach and develop strategy management personnel, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
  • Implement performance-tracking systems to monitor and measure progress.
  • Identify performance gaps and develop action plans to address them.
  • Collaborate with HR to align performance management processes with organizational goals.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture by recognizing and rewarding high achievers.

4. Risk Management:

  • Develop and oversee strategic threat identification and evaluation processes.
  • Create scenarios to mitigate potential risks and provide recommendations for risk management.
  • Prepare strategic risk reports for senior management and leadership.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and assess internal and external risks that may impact the strategic objectives.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions or crises.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and update risk profiles as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to business units in implementing risk management practices.

5. Strategy Coaching:

  • Support departmental leadership in formulating individual department strategies.
  • Review, analyze, and advise on existing business strategies to ensure alignment with overall objectives.
  • Assist in optimizing key value levers for a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to departmental managers on strategy execution.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on strategic thinking and planning.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to encourage idea-sharing and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of departmental strategies and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance strategy coaching capabilities.

6 Analytics:

  • Analyze to provide benchmarking and insights for management decision-making.
  • Analyze long-term market trends and recommend business development opportunities.
  • Develop acquisition and disposal strategies based on market insights.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and business intelligence teams to gather and analyze relevant data.
  • Develop forecasting models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and provide actionable insights to improve performance.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance analytical methodologies and tools.

7. Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with senior executives to define the company’s vision and agenda.
  • Work with planning teams to develop a roadmap for realizing the company’s vision.
  • Engage with clients to understand business issues and develop strategies based on insights.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders across departments and business units.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive alignment and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Partner with external organizations, industry associations, and thought leaders to stay informed and identify partnership opportunities.
  • Lead collaborative projects and initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders.
    Act as a liaison between different functions to ensure effective communication and coordination.

8. Leadership:

  • Provide strong leadership to inspire and motivate the team.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Set clear expectations and goals for team members.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, considering individual strengths and development needs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field or A master’s degree in related fields.
  • A minimum of 9 years of expereince in Strategic planning, Result Management, Strategy or Research, and the Digital Financial industry or mobile money services exposure is preferable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market data, financial metrics, and customer insights to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic plans for digital financial services.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage timelines, and deliver results within defined deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas, influence stakeholders, and build strong relationships.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness in the digital finance industry, with a focus on mobile money services and digital payment solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapt to changing market conditions, and proactively seek innovative solutions.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire teams, drive collaboration, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
