To plan, program and manage all land development and land preparations, opening up of roads and drainage within the budgeted costs and to survey all company land and implement company surveys by ensuring the company land is well aligned to the land titles plus manging all survey requirements of the company Key Responsibilities
• Preparing and developing of specifications for Agricultural machinery for the KSP
• Developing field services preventive maintenance systems composed of satellite and mobile workshops
• Undertaking road construction and drainage development
• Ensuring minimum machinery down time
• Maintaining of inventory of the Agricultural machinery
• Preparing reports on maintenance, productivity and fuel consumption of the machinery.
• Coordinating with Govt and its appointed agencies like NEMA. NFA on matters relating to environmental management
• Supervision of staff on field activities and training of operators
• Setting of standard procedures for maintenance and repairing of Agricultural equipment and machinery for KSP
• Opening land boundaries of newly purchased land and ascertain area as per land title then report to management
• Generating of block layouts of newly purchased company land and thereafter name each block with reference to the area location
• Carrying out alignment surveys for each newly generated block and putting into consideration of the haulage estimates for each road.
• Measuring estate blocks to be planted, newly planted and newly harvested and keeping updated all field areas
• Maintaining accurate record of areas of land field blocks in the register or soft copy in the system/computer
• Resurveying old fields, therefore updating areas of estate blocks in case of any discrepancies due to other factors
• Carrying out boundary opening of land outside Kakira and Kayunga Sugar Project territories when assigned by management from time to time 1
• Generating estate designs for drainage system, buildings sites, compounds and other features using AutoCAD or any other computer application
• Enforcing of company safety health and Environmental procedures in place among subordinates’ employees and observe good housekeeping to ensure accident free working environment C Knowledge, qualifications & Experience C1.
1 Education: Degree of Science in Agriculture Engineering/ Survey/Mechanical Engineering and other Agriculture related qualifications from a recognised Institute C1.
2 Experience, Skills and Competences: Experience and competence in land surveying / Agriculture Engineering/Mechanical Engineering in an Agricultural setting Communication Skills Should have good communication skills with ability to speak local languages Ms Office: Should be able to generate field reports using excel and word.
Analytical Skills: Ability to use software applications like AutoCAD to analyse and draw up maps /blocks of land for commercials Agriculture
