Key Responsibilities
- General Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean and sanitize all customer areas, including floors, shelves, counters, and restrooms, to ensure a hygienic shopping environment.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in both high-traffic and less accessible areas of the store.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, fixtures, and equipment regularly to maintain a neat appearance.
- Waste Management:
- Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and other waste materials in designated bins according to established procedures.
- Ensure that waste disposal areas are kept clean and organized, and report any issues with waste management to the supervisor.
- Restocking Cleaning Supplies:
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and request restocking as needed to avoid shortages.
- Maintain a clean and orderly supply storage area.
- Specialized Cleaning Tasks:
- Clean and maintain specialized areas such as food preparation zones, storage rooms, and refrigerated display units following strict hygiene protocols.
- Conduct periodic deep-cleaning sessions in accordance with company standards and seasonal requirements.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Follow guidelines for personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
- Report any hazards, maintenance issues, or non-compliance with safety standards to the supervisor promptly.
- Customer Service Support:
- Assist in ensuring that the supermarket environment remains pleasant and welcoming for customers.
- Provide support to other departments as needed, particularly during busy periods or special events.
Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Formal education is not mandatory; relevant work experience and a strong work ethic are valued.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a cleaning or maintenance role in a retail or similar environment is advantageous.
