Role Summary.
Provide swimming classes in the most efficient, Safe and effective manner possible, by creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage learners to develop their swimming ability and skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Be ready to make every effort to expand the subject knowledge by having recourse to a variety of activities.
- Be able to identify school swimming needs and inform the Head teacher.
- Be fully involved and promote other co-curricular activities in the school.
- Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
- Implementing ground rules for each swim session in order to prevent accidents & injuries.
- Planning swimming lessons that consider students’ abilities and progressive development.
- Keep record of the swimming equipment available in the school.
- An understanding of, and practical expertise in, information technology as an integrated educational tool.
- Being a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.
The requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be a trained Swimming coach with minimum of FINA Level II training, or Kenya Swimming Teachers & Coaches Association or its equivalent.
- 3 years’ experience with demonstrable achievements in teaching swimming in a school set up.
- Must be registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- Certification as a life guard and First Aid will be an added advantage
