Job description

Are you passionate about creating positive change and improving access to clean energy? Do you have a strong background in Human Resources management and Talent Acquisition? At African Clean Energy we believe that people are our greatest asset. As a growing and forward-thinking organization, we are committed to attracting and retaining top talent that drives innovation, excellence, and results.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Talent Acquisition Officer to join our P&C team and help shape the future of our workforce.

At African Clean Energy, we are a rapidly growing B Corp enterprise focused on enabling decentralized access to clean energy for households in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Our mission is to eliminate the worst forms of poverty through a platform of clean energy and smartphone technology. We provide clean energy solutions, including the ACE One, to households living on $2/day through an affordable microloan model.

The Talent Acquisition Officer will be responsible for the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, attracting, interviewing, and hiring top talent for ACE Uganda and could be involved in the recruitment of new market expansions within Uganda and Kenya. The Talent Acquisition Officer will develop and execute recruitment plans, manage candidate pipelines, and ensure a positive candidate experience while aligning with the company’s hiring needs and workforce planning goals; they often lead employment branding initiatives to promote the company’s image in the job market.

At African Clean Energy, you will:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Identify and analyze current and future staffing needs across departments to develop targeted recruitment strategies.
  • Forecast hiring requirements and build talent pipelines to meet organizational goals.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.

Candidate Sourcing and Screening:

  • Utilize various recruitment channels (job boards, social media, networking, employee referrals) to identify qualified candidates.
  • Conduct initial screening interviews to assess candidate fit and qualifications against job requirements.
  • Develop and manage a strong talent pool through proactive sourcing and relationship building.

Candidate Evaluation and Selection:

  • Coordinate and conduct in-depth interviews with hiring managers, including behavioral and technical assessments.
  • Evaluate candidate skills, experience, and cultural fit to make informed hiring recommendations.
  • Lead the interview process, ensuring consistency and fairness throughout.

Offer Management and Onboarding:

  • Present job offers to selected candidates, including salary negotiation.
  • Manage the onboarding process to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the company.

Employer Branding and Marketing:

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote the company’s employer brand to attract top talent.
  • Create compelling job adverts and content to engage potential candidates.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Track key recruitment metrics (time-to-hire, source of hire, acceptance rate) to identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze recruitment data to inform future talent acquisition strategies and decision-making.

We’d really like to hear from you if you have:

  • Membership of the HRMAU
  • Strong understanding of recruitment methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with candidates and hiring managers
  • Proven ability to source and attract top talent across various channels
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruitment tools
  • Knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
