Main responsibilities
- The project coordinator is responsible for the operational management, monitoring and reporting of the project.
- The project coordinator will establish clear governance from the outset within all the different stakeholders involved (internal and external) as well as good communication practices.
- He/she will explore the value chain for the management of non-medical hazardous waste and, with the project team, identify a manager for each stage.
- The project coordinator will ensure collaboration and communication with the project team (focal point for each MSF entity in South Sudan) as well as with the steering committee and the advisory committee.
- In the first phase, the project coordinator will oversee the inventory and separation of waste covered by the project, for each MSF site, identify and evaluate exporters and recycling opportunities in the region.
- This will allow the budget for phase 2 (transport, export, temporary storage) to be updated and progress towards project implementation.
- During Phase 1, the project coordination will identify the relevant authorities involved in the export of waste, define the process to be followed and initiate discussions with exporters.
- The second phase involves project implementation. During this phase, the project coordinator will be joined by a Watsan manager to ensure proper transportation and storage of project waste to Juba, work on volume reduction (including R&D testing and pilots), and monitor the export process.
- The third phase focuses on capitalization. The project coordination will assess all the elements necessary to routinely treat hazardous waste from MSF activities in South Sudan and, together with the project team, will define the Waste Management Plan for the country.
- He/she will finalize the feedback report and adapt the SOPs to facilitate duplication in other missions.
Profile sought :
Training:
- Bac +3 level diploma in business administration, project management or a similar field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is highly desirable.
Experience :
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project management, including at least 2 years working on innovation or governance projects.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, governance and cross-functional team collaboration.
- Field experience with MSF is a prerequisite, experience as a coordinator is an asset, experience in several OCs would be valuable.
- Experience in managing complex projects in resource-limited countries.
- Experience in institutional fund management and reporting.
