Purpose of the Technical Specialist Social Norms
The purpose of this role is to technically contribute to the growth of the IIDC work portfolio on social norms through part time/assignment-based technical tool development, Technical specialist, technical coordination and facilitating technical learnings within IIDC, among partners, actors and relevant stakeholders.
From time to time the Technical Advisor will be deployed to undertake all or any of the
following tasks.
2.1 Specific Tasks
i. To design, test and roll out Social norms transformation approaches, technical packages and tools that can enable IIDC implementing partners to deliver impactful social norms transforming interventions.
ii. To train and mentor implementing partner staff in social norms transformation implementation
iii. To design and roll out measurement frameworks and tools for generating evidence on the impact of social norms interventions of implementing partners.
iv. To collaborate with IIDC’s local and international technical experts in Social Norms in advancing IIDC work in social norms intervention design, research/evidence generation and adaptation of interventions for greater impact and results.
v. To contribute to the documentation and learning initiatives of IIDC in the areas of social norms programming and support the work of the East Africa Agency, Social and Gender Norms Learning Collaborative.
3.0 Qualifications
• A postgraduate training in the fields of social/behavioural sciences (Sociology, social anthropology, Psychology, development studies, behaviour change communication, and other relevant areas)
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated continuous working experience in development and/or implementing approaches for social norms interventions in the fields of public health, violence prevention, economic transformation, gender, etc.
• Strong background in research and social impact results measurements
• Experience in adaptation and scaling up of social transformation models and interventions.
• Experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder learning is desirable
