- To provide daily underground support for the Geotechnical department and Mine Operations by conducting underground inspections, data collection with a focus on ground support Quality Assurance / Quality Control and void monitoring.
As Part Of Our Team You Will:
Geotechnical EngineeringÂ
- Conduct daily underground inspections and report all findings to the Geotechnical Team.
- Keep and maintain all Geotechnical instruments in a healthy state.
- Assist in the installation of Geotechnical instruments and data communication systems.
- Conduct Ground Support Quality Assurance / Quality Control, collecting samples, dispatching samples, data entry of results, and reporting on ground support Quality Assurance / Quality Control.
- Assist the backfill team in carrying out daily underground fill pass inspections.
- Guide the underground operations to adhere to the backfill letter priorities.
- Drive and implement assigned geotechnical projects.
- Ensure all monitoring systems (IMS Seismic stations and HMA) are always operational and data communications and storage systems are fully functional.
Documentation Preparation
- Prepare weekly / monthly geotechnical reports on ground support Quality Assurance / Quality Control checks and other underground inspections.
- Report on daily Planned Task Observations (PTO) conducted.
- Prepare report on seismic damage/hazards.
- Prepare and implement standards and procedures regarding instrumentation installation and maintenance.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining or Geological Engineering.
Additional Knowledge:
- Preferred knowledge of Mine design software, Dips, Unwedge, Deswik CAD.
Experience:
- 2 years working in an underground mining environment.
- Preferred a minimum of 1 year experience in underground mining operational time such as blasting, drilling, haulage and service crew works.
