responsible for the installation, integration, and configuration of vehicle Powertrain, Electrics, and Electronic (EE) Systems on the shop floor. This role is pivotal in executing precise production tasks, conducting initial functionality tests, and ensuring that all systems meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The Plant Operator II also plays a vital role in supervising and mentoring Plant Operator I Team, contributing to the development of a competent and highly capable workforce. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of vehicle electrical architecture, and an unwavering commitment to operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Functional Responsibilities: Precision Installation & Systems Integration

The Plant Operator II is responsible for the hands-on installation, integration, and initial testing of all Powertrain and EE systems on the production line, ensuring foundational quality and performance.

1.1. Installation & Integration

  • Installation and integration of all Powertrain systems, including motors, inverters, and power electronics, and EE systems, such as wiring harnesses, sensors, ECUs, and infotainment systems.
  • Perform detailed component installation, integration and connection, ensuring every part is correctly positioned, securely fastened, and properly configured according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Conduct initial functionality and diagnostic tests on installed systems to verify correct operation and quickly identify any faults or anomalies.

1.2. Configuration & Testing

  • Assist engineers and technicians in the initial configuration and calibration of vehicle control units (VCUs) and other embedded systems.
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to read data, troubleshoot basic faults, and perform system-level checks.
  • Ensure all High-Voltage (HV) and Low-Voltage (LV) systems are correctly terminated, tested for continuity and insulation resistance, and are free of defects before advancing to the next stage.

1.3. Quality Assurance & Rework Oversight

  • Perform rigorous in-process quality checks on all installation and integration points to detect and report defects immediately.
  • Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and coordinate rework activities to ensure all issues are resolved to KMC’s quality standards.
  • Provide expert input on quality assurance protocols for Powertrain and EE systems.

1.4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all installation, integration, and testing activities, including any faults identified and corrective actions taken.
  • Contribute to shift handover reports and project documentation, ensuring a complete and verifiable record of work performed.

1.5. Any other Duties: Any other Responsibility assigned by the Supervisor vital to Supporting Vision Execution, Enhancing Organizational Excellence and Fostering Cross-Functional collaboration.

2. Social Responsibilities: Fostering a Learning & Safe Environment

The Plant Operator II serves as a mentor and collaborator, fostering a culture of teamwork, knowledge sharing, and safety on the production floor.

2.1. Teamwork & Mentorship

  • Supervise, guide, and mentor Plant Operator I personnel on the Powertrain and EE Systems line, imparting critical technical skills and upholding safety protocols.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments (e.g., Quality, Production Planning) to ensure a smooth and efficient production flow.

2.2. Safety & Compliance Advocacy

  • Actively champion and rigorously enforce all health, safety, and environment (HSE) protocols, with a specific focus on high-voltage electrical safety, proper tool usage, and chemical handling.
  • Serve as a role model for safety, ensuring that all team members consistently use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

3. Emotional Responsibilities: Discipline, Precision & Accountability

The role demands unwavering discipline, meticulous precision, and a strong sense of accountability to execute complex technical tasks and deliver flawless, high-quality work.

3.1. Meticulous Precision & Focus

  • Demonstrate and instill in the team a high level of concentration and precision in all installation and integration tasks, recognizing the critical safety and functional implications of errors.
  • Maintain an unwavering focus on quality, knowing that every connection, every wire, and every component contributes to the final product’s reliability and the Corporation’s reputation.

3.2. Responsibility & Accountability

  • Take full personal responsibility for the quality of work performed by the Powertrain and EE Systems Associated Station, ensuring that all systems are integrated correctly and safely.
  • Be accountable for meeting production timelines and quality standards, proactively communicating any challenges or issues that may impact deliverables.

3.3. Adaptability & Resilience

  • Adapt quickly and effectively to new vehicle models, engineering changes, and unforeseen production challenges.
  • Maintain composure under pressure, particularly during critical testing and troubleshooting, and guide the team with a calm and decisive demeanor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education Background

  • Minimum of a UVQF Level II/Trade Certificate in Automotive Systems, Electrical Installation, Electronics Installations, or a related field from a recognized Technical Institution.

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in automotive fitting, electrical systems installation, or a similar technical role.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role, with the ability to train and mentor junior staff is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical drawings and schematics is highly desirable.

Professional Certifications

  • A valid driving license for vehicles (Class DE for Buses is Desired).
  • Certification in Safety, Leadership or Computer Literacy is an added advantage.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

  • 1. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, high- and low-voltage systems, wiring harnesses, and control units. Proficiency in using mustimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.

  • 2. Quality & Safety Focus: A keen eye for detail in installation and testing. Unwavering commitment to safety protocols, especially those related to high-voltage systems and industrial environments.

  • 3. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills to identify and resolve electrical, electronic, or powertrain-related faults on the shop floor.

  • 4. Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team of operators, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.

  • 5. Communication: Clear and concise communication skills for effective reporting, team coordination, and collaboration with engineers and quality control personnel.

  • 6. Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using digital documentation tools, checklists, and diagnostic software.
