Role and Responsibilities of Consultant
The Water Resource Management Expert will be an integral part of the CVRA team, and will join other experts in climate change, water supply and sanitation engineering to produce the overall project outputs.
The Climate and Hydrology Expert will have the following responsibilities:
·Assess the current state of water resources in Lagos, including surface water, groundwater, and rainwater harvesting potential.
· Analyze water demand and supply patterns across various sectors (domestic, industrial, agricultural) and identify gaps.
·Develop strategies for sustainable water resource management, considering factors such as population growth, urbanization, and climate change.
·Evaluate the impact of climate change on water availability and quality, and propose adaptation measures.
·Collaborate with/supoprt the WASH experts, Climate Hydrologist Specialist, and other team members to integrate water resource management considerations into the CVRA process.
·Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, water utilities, and community organizations, to gather insights and foster collaboration on water resource management initiatives.
·Provide technical guidance on water conservation, efficiency, and reuse practices to enhance the resilience of the WASH sector.
·Contribute to the development of the Climate Risk Assessment Report and the Climate Adaptation Recommendations Report, focusing on water resource management aspects.
·Support the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework to track the effectiveness of water resource management interventions.
Qualifications of Consultant
The Consultant will work closely with the project team to ensure that water resource management considerations are properly integrated into the CVRA and the development of adaptation strategies for enhancing the resilience of the WASH sector in Lagos, Nigeria.
Essential
·Advanced degree in Water Resource Management, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
·Six years of professional experience in water resource assessment, planning, and management, particularly in urban settings.
Knowledge of climate change impacts on water resources and adaptation strategies.
· Familiarity with water conservation, efficiency, and reuse technologies and practices.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and engage with diverse stakeholders.
·WRM Expert be based in Lagos, Nigeria as this role will require site visits, meetings with the water utility, etc. Only candidates who have Nigeria work authorization will be considered.
