Job title:   Utilities & Facilities Engineer
Work Location:  Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda
Division / Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Head of Engineering & Maintenance
Job Purpose
The Utilities & Facilities Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the utility systems and equipment, providing reliable and cost-effective services. This position requires the successful candidate to have a technical aptitude, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and managing the organization’s utilities.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise with the systems.
  • Ensuring that the organization is compliant with applicable safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Conducting regular safety checks of the systems.
  • Preparation, Overseeing and managing the organization’s budget for utilities and facilities, ensuring that costs are kept to a minimum.
  • Scheduling and coordinating annual overhauls, scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, and Plant installations as needed.
  • Working with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the utilities are working properly.
  • Developing and implementing plans for energy efficiency and cost savings for ALL Utilities.
  • Preparing Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports, tracking utility usages and costs, and analyzing trends.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 
  • A Minimum Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, civil engineering or facilities management is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven(7) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation, management, and maintenance of utility production and distribution systems, the supporting auxiliary equipment and systems, the supervisory control systems (direct digital controls and pneumatic controls), and the associated facilities equipment at the point of use is required; supervisory experience is required.
