The Value Chain and Business Development Officer shall perform the following duties:
Conduct stakeholder engagements and community sensitization meetings and selection of
program participants.
Constitute program participants into Village Saving and Loans Associations (VSLAs), train
them on savings, life skills and link them to formal financial institutions to enable them mobilize
resources to invest and expand their businesses.
Support in scoping, selection and engagement of training specialist in shea-based skin and
hair oil production.
Conduct training for young women on shea-based skin and hair oil production, packaging,
branding and marketing.
Support to scope, select and engage a microbial/bio-physiochemical laboratory analyst and
conduct analysis of shea butter to determine coagulation properties when kept at room
temperature.
Support to prove the concept of producing cooking oil from shea butter by
extracting/neutralizing the coagulation properties that make it to solidify at room temperature.
Support to train the selected young women on the process of extracting the solidification
properties of shea butter to keep it in liquid state at room temperature thereby making it
suitable for use as cooking oil.
Support program participants to register group-owned businesses for sustainable
employment.
Support to facilitate the analysis and certification by Ghanaian regulatory authorities i.e. the
Food and Drugs Authority and Ghana Standards Authority of the skin and hair oil and cooking
oil produced by program participants.
Safeguarding, quality control and monitoring of the activities of program participants.
Documenting impact stories for publication.
Representing the organization in events related to the project and as requested by the Project
Manager.
Writing activity reports
Writing monthly project reports
Assist in writing periodic reports for submission to the donor.
Handling administrative duties including taking attendance, minutes, purchasing and handling
logistics, etc
Any other duties assigned to you.
[Employment Period]

A probationary period lasting two months from the day of recruitment
o Fixed term employment from date of employment until January 31, 2025.
[Required Qualifications & Experience]
Bachelor or higher degree in Development Studies, Social Science, Community Development or
a related area.
At least 2 (two) years working experience in VSLA and shea value chain.
Disciplined, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated cultural sensitivity, and an ability to develop
and establish relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and external partners.
Excellent PC skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for producing
business/official documents, letters and reports as well as presentation.
Fluent in English and Sissali. Ability to communicate in Dagaare/Waale is an asset.
