Job Purpose Specific responsibilities and duties:
1. Mapping organisations and service providers who provide skilling / TVET in and for refugee hosting areas (Government, private sector, (I)NGOs, local actors).
– Identify actors (Government, private sector, (I)NGOs, local actors) through online research (on-line search, social media, SLIME, SLAM), snowballing during data collection, field visits to include in the Uganda skilling Exchange (USE) Platform.
– Identifying field based focal points that can support data collection and maintaining relationships with them.
– Add contacts to contact list and maintain contact list.
2. Support data collection for the USE platform
– Schedule appointments with identified organisation contact persons.
– Conduct remote and in person data collection and enter data in the system or support external actors with data entry (as needed).
– Collect data on the training centres and their coordinates and update the current data.
3. Data validation and cleaning
– Review submitted data for deficiencies or errors before approving its publishing on the platform.
– Document and share lessons learned as the volunteer interacts with the system to facilitate continuous improvement of the data collection approach.
– Review the current list of the stakeholders and programs to see if they are still active or inactive and update them as needed.
4. USE visualisation testing
– Identify errors through routine testing.
– Compile all errors in a dedicated document.
Capture additional features that are being suggested by the different users and document them in the tracking tools.
5. Support development of USE
– Support user centred design consultations.
– Support the ICT4D advisor with reviews of the platform during development and share feedback.
– Keep researching the new tools similar to USE in Uganda and other implementations and capture lessons learned and share with the ICT4D advisor.
6. Support dissemination of USE
– Support the ICT4D advisor with the dissemination plan for USE.
– Support identification of key stakeholders that can serve as allies/collaborators for the USE platform.
Person specifications Academic background, Experience & Person Specifications;
✓ Diploma in a relevant area IT, Statics, Computer Science, Business Computing (additional computer training or certification will be an asset)
✓ At least 6 months experience in Data entry
✓ Experience with Humanitarian NGOs will be an added advantage
✓ Experience with data collection as part of research, or related work experience, or as a Data Entry Operator or Office Clerk or volunteer
✓ Experience working with MS Office, data programs and information management systems
✓ Good typing speed and accuracy will be required to support remote data collection
✓ Pro-activity and attention to detail are essential
✓ Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively interact with local and national and international actors
✓ Research experience
✓ Excellent knowledge of correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
✓ Previous experience cleaning and managing data
✓ Knowledge of partners providing training/skilling opportunities in the refugee settlements in Uganda
✓ Comply with all relevant SCI policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies
✓ Commitment to Save the Children aims and principles and in particular commitment to the SCI policies and procedures.
✓ Must possess a valid TIN and NSSF number.
