To support the Chief Internal Auditor in ensuring that the Audit Function delivers value added assurance and advisory services to the Bank thereby contributing to improved risk management and the achievement of the overall strategic objectives of the Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draw up plans for the assigned individual audit projects/activities to ensure audit covers all key areas and ensure clarity of audit objectives.
- Schedule, assign work, supervise and participate in the execution of individual audits to ensure the work of other auditors conform to quality standards and ensure timely completion of audits.
- Review and evaluate working papers of completed audits to ensure that sufficient and reliable evidence has been gathered as a basis for reporting.
- Develop the audit staff through training, coaching and mentoring to enhance their competence.
- Deputize the Chief Internal Auditor, including assisting him/her in the development of the annual audit plan and organizing the activities of the Internal Audit Department to ensure succession planning.
- Follow up audit issues for adequacy of corrective action.
- Prepare suitable reports on key control weaknesses, detected non-compliance with bank policies, guidelines, statutory requirements and procedures and discuss with relevant managers obtaining their comments then review with Chief Internal Auditor before issuing as final necessary corrective action.
- Conduct investigations into reported frauds and forgeries as may be assigned.
- Review reports to Bank of Uganda (Daily, Weekly, monthly and quarterly) as assigned.
Education.
First degree plus a professional qualification in accountancy and auditing such as ACCA, CPA, CIA, CFE, etc. Candidates who are currently enrolled and ongoing in their pursuit of these certifications are also encouraged to apply and will be considered as meeting this requirement.
Experience.

At least 7 years of progressive audit experience, preferably in a financial institution with a minimum of 3(three) years in managerial/supervisory role.
Skills and competencies.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of accounting and auditing.
- Knowledge of the techniques, tests, and sampling methods involved in conducting audits and the requirements set forth in the standards for the professional practice of internal auditing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to collect, analyze and evaluate information and the preparation of written concise reports of work performed.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to foster cooperation and support of stakeholders.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt appropriately to changing requirements and situations.
- Working knowledge of computerized accounting and auditing systems.
- At least 7 years of progressive audit experience, preferably in a financial institution.
- Good understanding of audit processes and working tools.
- Good grasp of the Bank’s Policies, Process and Procedures.,
