Job description

  • The Finance Reconciliation Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within our e-commerce/fintech company.
  • This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to reconcile revenues and expenses, ensuring they are correctly posted to the appropriate ledgers.
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of finance principles, experience with reconciliation processes, and a proactive approach to problem- solving.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Reconciliation of Financial Data
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of revenue and expense accounts.
  • Compare financial records from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve variances in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant stakeholders as needed.

Ledger Management:

  • Post reconciled transactions to the appropriate ledgers in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date ledger records, ensuring proper documentation for all transactions.
  • Monitor ledger activity to identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate regular reports detailing financial reconciliations, variances, and trends.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for process enhancements or corrective actions.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports as requested by management or other stakeholders.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate reconciliation processes and procedures, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and implement best practices for financial reconciliation to minimize errors and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements or automation tools to improve reconciliation processes.

Compliance and Audit Support:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls related to financial reconciliation.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, explanations, and assistance as needed.
  • Participate in audit reviews to address findings and implement corrective actions.

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. ICAN/ACCA certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience (at least 3 years) in financial reconciliation, preferably within the e-commerce industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Xero, and Excel.

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
