Job description

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Ensuring that the organisations accounting policies, procedures, and standards are implemented effectively and, in a manner, consistent with the development of a cost-conscious culture in the workforce.
  • Preparation and presentation of cost reports monthly for site management.
  • Analysing data from costs reports to assure management that costs are being effectively monitored and remedial action is being taken to correct unfavorable variances.
  • Supporting the development, implementation and continual audit of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company requirements for;
  • Accounting Records and standards
  • Taxation
  • Asset protection and internal financial controls.
  • Continually monitor costs whilst proactively identifying and implementing cost effective initiatives to optimize procurement and other expenditure for the Feasibility Study (FS) Project.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the Feasibility Study (FS) Project.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.
  • Develop objectives for sharing common infrastructure and support services across Barrick and cascade this throughout the Project.
  • Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Degree in Accounting or Professional Qualification such as ACCA / CIMA.
  • Member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
  • Minimum Ten (10) years’ experience with at least five (5) years in mining in a senior commercial/ accounting role.
  • Sound understanding and experience of the principles and practice in accounting and contracts.
  • Must have a valid Zambian driver’s licence.
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to subordinates.
