Install & commission UPS, solar & battery systems, as well as assist in installing a variety of critical power equipment.
- Install, configure & maintain UPS systems according to manufacturer specifications & industry best practices.
- Conduct routine maintenance & testing of AC / DC power systems hardware & UPS systems for optimal performance & reliability.
- Inspect newly procured UPS, batteries, solar & related equipment.
- Coordinate with the network team to ensure online backup systems firmware is up to date for improved equipment performance & reliability.
- Research modern alternative power equipment & methods to enhance existing systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to find better solutions.
- Travel to various UN sites to perform scheduled preventative maintenance & repairs on UPS systems, AC / DC rectifiers, batteries, solar backup systems & Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
- Accurately troubleshoot & diagnose UPS systems, as well as other AC & DC backup systems.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests at remote UN sites within the required time frame.
- Complete documentation promptly & accurately using the company’s computer systems & assess & report the urgency of needed repairs
- Competence
- Diploma in or an equivalent of education certification.
- The technician should have a working knowledge of alternate power systems & system integration.
- Experience providing services in the field of alternate power area to or in a field operation of the UN common system or comparable international organization is desirable.
- Experience in the field of information systems or related area in a conflict or post conflict setting is required.
- Must have excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Must meet deadlines & provide quick turnaround on projects when needed.
- Work as part of FTS duty roster responsible for emergency customer support calls after official working hours.
- Possession of a valid driving license.
- Fluency in written & spoken English is required.
- Willingness to work with minimum supervision
