Main Responsibilities
- Undertake Electrical building services engineering design, from the Concept stage to production information at the tender stage.
- Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work
- Carry out project work within agreed deadlines and budget.
- Meet appropriate service/design decisions.
- Inform more senior staff and peers of important and relevant service/design decisions, and assert that the objectives of the company and the client are being achieved.
- Coordinating his/her work with other members of the project team
- Work competently on an independent basis
- Prepare technical schedules for new work
- Manage the workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians (including verification of quality)
- Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detailed design
- Prepare Technical Specifications and Reports
- Monitor financial performance of jobs
- Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary).
- Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategies and services represent the client’s best interests
- Add value to a project and think beyond your own discipline.
- Have a flexible approach and be a team player.
- Commitment to CPD and self-learning/development.
- Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
- Middle East design experience is desirable but not essential
Requirements
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be a qualified professional who must have a minimum qualification of a Bachelors/Master’s Degree in Engineering (BEng/MEng), Membership of a recognized professional body (CIBSE, IET or ASHRAE), and a minimum of 6 years experience.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a design consultancy environment.
- Proven track record of project design from concept through to the issuance of tender documentation
- Fully conversant with Microsoft office, AutoCAD, and software calculation tools
- Significant post graduate and senior experience in a design consultancy environment.
- Ideally previous experience of design in Middle Eastern or equivalent climates.
- Experience in highly serviced environments.
- A good understanding of architecture and a desire to contribute to the built environment.
- Experience in contributing to multiple projects and balancing workload requirements.
- Career-minded and looking for a new challenge, with the potential and ambition to progress within the firm.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages.
- Working knowledge and understanding of British, European and ideally International standards.
- Ability to manage and mentor junior members of staff
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident and proactive character.
