Heart for Africa is looking for an experienced, matured Workshop Manager to manage and maintain workshop operations at its Lusito Training and Maintenance facility, located on the Project Canaan farm. The fleet includes not only passenger vehicles, but a range of heavy-duty equipment including farm tractors and machinery, earth moving equipment, medium duty trucks and diesel generators.
Duties and Requirements
- Ability to diagnose and repair vehicles to a professional standard.
- Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsels and monitors the performance of all service department staff.
- Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department.
- Monitors and oversee workshop and vocational and training school, as well as managing staff daily productivity.
- Monitors and follows up on parts orders with the procurement department to ensure availability.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks.
- Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and repairs vehicles promptly.
- An expert vehicle mechanic.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in vehicle and equipment repair and servicing after obtaining the appropriate certification in these fields.
- Management Training Certification or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams and staff effectively and harmoniously.
- Gifted as an instructor and mentor to those learning the trade
