Job description

To work with the Coverage team to grow and manage the structured Debt products including all the activities required to grow the CIB portfolio in an effective manner, including appropriate pricing and structuring and focusing on cross-selling.

The person will also ensure CIB Balance sheet optimization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Deal Structuring & Management – 30%

  • Structure and execute debt transactions whilst demonstrating key business competencies.
  • Support transaction structuring and execution with a focus on revenue-generating opportunities
  • Develop models and stress scenarios to determine capacity for debt transactions.
  • Preparing pitch books and presentations after analyzing opportunities and financials for clients on the target clients’ list.

Business Management – 30%

  • Maintain and update the Debt pipeline in conjunction with all Sectors.
  • Environmental scanning for new debt opportunities
  • Research and share information to ensure up to date knowledge of marketplace, business development activity / initiatives and competitors
  • Assist coverage in originating and executing debt transactions across all teams.
  • Collaborate with specialist partners (TPS and Treasury) to offer clients a comprehensive and competitive package to meet their requirements.

Stakeholder Management 20%

  • Proactively develop relationships with key stakeholders internal and external e.g.: compliance, legal, and key clients identified.
  • Build and develop relationships across the Bank with various stakeholders with the intention of breaking down silos to maximize business growth.

Research perspective -10%

  • Investigate and embark on a continuous market scanning to identify and stay abreast of market trends and activities to inform opportunities for new or enhanced products and services.
  • In conjunction with GFM and TPS, Initiate market research relating to the product alignment to client needs, competitors and future trends to ensure sustained profitability for the Bank and competitive advantage.

Teamwork – 5%

  • Supporting and conducting training for coverage teams to understand debt structuring products more comprehensively.
  • Build collaborative network with Corporate Credit, coverage and legal.

Governance & Control – 5%

  • Identify, manage and mitigate risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
  • Support the Head of Coverage to provide assurance on pricing discipline and margin trends to enhance CIB profitability. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Commerce and Management Studies or related field
  • 7 years’ experience in a similar field
  • Knowledge of debt and trade transactions
  • Detailed understanding of Managing for Value reporting.
  • An appreciation of the external economic, political, legal and regulatory environment and their impact to the business.
  • Strong Computer skills and other Analytical tools.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Planning and organisation skills.
  • Forward Thinking.
  • Ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions.
