For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:”
1 Peter 2:21-23
In life you will meet with people who will get on your nerves, some will be so stupid so much so that you will be tempted to curse them or whip them, some will cheat you and some will betray you or do you any kinds of hurt. Some will call you terrible names , and some will fabricate stories against you just to hurt you. These may be distant or close people. We are not to respond with hate, anger, and bitterness towards these. Our LORD JESUS CHRIST did not even threaten his accusers. Luke 23:34 says , “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.*”
We are not to become evil just because some people are evil to us. We can genuinely love bad people. Jesus said in Luke 6:26 , “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” It’s a fact of life that not everyone will be good towards you, but you are a child of God, and you can love all man. In Luke 6:27-33 Jesus said ” *But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also……6:32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners, I also love those who love them. 6:33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.”
You can love that person who is planning your fall, you don’t need the back to sender trash, 1 Peter 3:9 says ” Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.” Don’t plan the death of those who hurt and hate you. Jesus gave his life for those who killed him. You can bail out the one who stole from you. Don’t rejoice to see any man suffering. Nomatter how wicked he is, he is precious in the eyes of God because if he can hear and believe the gospel, he becomes as righteous as Jesus is and can be the next great Apostle like Paul was transformed. Not everyone, however, will respond lovingly to your acts of love.
