  • This position plays a critical role in overseeing seamless relationships between the company and the various state civil payroll authorities to establish new relationships in the north-central region and to ensure that the loans given out are repaid as and well due and that the account records are properly kept by constantly working with finance and credit control department.

Job Summary

  • The Account Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing the relationship between the company and the state government in the northern central part of the country.
  • He/she will work closely with the state government payroll authority to ensure that loan repayments are deducted at source from the civil servants’ salaries as agreed.
  • The manager will also be required to travel to the states within his/her area of coverage to address any issues that may arise and ensure a smooth partnership.
  • Fluency in the Hausa language and being an indigenous of the region is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact between the company and the state government payroll authority in his/her coverage
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the state government officials, especially those involved in payroll operations
  • Collaborate with the state government payroll authority to ensure timely deduction of loan repayments from civil servant salaries.
  • Resolve any issues or disputes that may arise related to loan repayments, in close coordination with the state government.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding the status of loan repayments and any challenges faced.
  • Coordinate with the company’s finance and credit control department to reconcile loan repayment records with the state government payroll system
  • Conduct periodic visits to the states to meet with state government officials, civil servants, and other stakeholders to address any concerns and ensure smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies to increase loan participation and optimize the loan repayment process
  • Stay updated on industry trends and government regulations affecting loan repayment processes at the state level
  • Handle any other duties or responsibilities related to the role as assigned by management.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounts & Finance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience in liaison or relationship management roles.
  • Strong understanding of loan lending processes and repayment procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of the local culture, language (Hausa), and understanding of the region’s dynamics is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to various states within the northern region of the country as required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Relevant knowledge of the company’s market and competitors.
  • Proven experience in liaison or relationship management roles.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, including customer needs assessment and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Strong personal network within the region of coverage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment.
  • Professional “get it done” attitude and work ethic.
