Job description

The Accounts Semi- senior is responsible for assisting in various accounting tasks and gaining practical experience in the field. The role of an accounts semi-senior is to support the accounts team in preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with audits and financial reviews. They work closely with accountants to ensure that financial information is accurate and up-to-date.

Detailed Job Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee the compilation of financial statements for client
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
• Review and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies or errors
• Prepare and present financial reports to clients
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients
• Ensures key information is provided by the client in order to complete the job effectively
• Monitors time records for specific assignments and highlights actual or likely overruns
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Effectively utilizes IT systems and develops skill where necessary.
• Suggests improvements to manager.
• Keeps accurate records and files
• Takes effective ownership of assignments where applicable
• Ensures key information is provided by the client in order to complete the job effectively

Person Specification
Education and Work Experience Requirements
• Minimum two years’ relevant experience (preferably in an audit firm)
• Must be a registered ZICA member
• At least a ZICA Technician holder or equivalent
• Knowledge of general ledger functions
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office i.e., Word and Excel
• Experience with the use of Caseware will be an added advantage

• Able to manage pressure to meet deadlines

• Able to work under minimal supervision
• Builds constructive relationships with other team members
• Provide relevant feedback to the team leader or supervisor in a timely manner
• Has reasonable knowledge and application of IFRS for SMEs and IFRS.
• Able to prepare financial statements under the supervision of the senior or supervisor.
