Job description

Action for Rural Women’s Empowerment (ARUWE) is a non-profit; Non-Governmental Organization
working with marginalized groups of people especially the women and girls.

ARUWE has received financing from Impact and Innovations Development Centre (IIDC) to scale
up the implementation of the Responsible Engaged and Loving (REAL) Fathers program which is an
evidence-based, community-led parenting mentoring program, aimed at reducing intimate partner
violence and violence against children while promoting early childhood development and learning
through play.

The purpose of this role is to provide support to all Social and Behavioral Change Communication
(SBCC) related activities in targeted districts. The incumbent will support Project Officers/Mentors in
conducting group sessions and community celebrations as well as supporting the documentation and
monitoring of change stories. The BCC Officer will be based in the Central Region but with frequent
travel to the other regions. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of Programs

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

Lead the process of audience mapping and segmentation, development of reference-group specific information materials, communication materials for religious and cultural institutions using the information generated from the social norms’ exploration.

Support development, pre-testing and production of SBCC materials, and coordinate the adaptation of existing SBCC tools with support of technical advisors for communication and documentation.

Assist with drafting partner level media reports, presentations, project briefers, success stories and significant change stories to enrich progress reports.

Lead the development of context specific messages for REAL Fathers posters used to spur or steer community conversations around gender roles and social norms around men’s care giving and intimate partner violence.

Seek consent, shoot, collect and edit project photos and videos for documentation, reporting and social media activities of the project.

Requirements

Relevant academic training at bachelor’s degree level.

At least 3 years practical experience in community-based programs and especially social behavior change activities, facilitating community dialogue etc.

Training in social norms methodologies or SBCC
