Job description

The Fleet Mechanical Officer will have the responsibility to plan, direct, manage, coordinate and
supervise the acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of
fleet vehicles. S/he serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and their operations as
well as the decision of a vehicle’s suitability and safety on the road.

OVERALL DUTY
Perform daily routine checks on all factory vehicles, and Tricycles to ensure performance integrity.
Ensuring that breakdowns are attended to and completed within a short time.
Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage fleet and users.
• Advice on fleet needs and specification to achieve optimum performance and lifespan.
• Plan budget and monitor expenditure
• Supervise professionals or skilled technical artisans.
• Carry out or supervise maintenance activities, repairs, and improvements according to management approval and instruction.
• Monitor fuel usage for all vehicles and tricycles and report monthly consumption of fuel usage.
• Support the projects for new technical integrations.
• Maintain, develop, and collaborate in the creation and control of technical documentation required and related to fleets department and new projects.
• Lead and support continuous improvement activities, such as reducing negative environmental impact, and process automation.
• Train drivers and tricycle riders on road regulations, best practices of vehicle usage etc.

JOB REQUIREMENT
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

Minimum HND Mechanical Engineering (Automotive Option) or related field
• Possess a valid driver’s license and proficiency in driving.

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
• Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures, from vehicle assignment to
replacement cycling, from personal use to accident reporting.
• Experience in price, spec, and purchase or lease vehicles
• Understand and track total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Budgetary experience negotiating skills
