DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partnership Development:
- Build and maintain relationships with funding organizations, NGOs, government entities, and private sector partners to support the organization’s mission
- Serve as the organization’s primary representative in East Africa, advocating for partnership opportunities that align with the strategic objectives of the organization
- Actively seek out and cultivate new partnerships with local and international stakeholders to expand the nonprofit’s network and resources in the region
- Fundraising & Resource Mobilization:
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities from local, regional, and international donors, foundations, and government bodies
- Collaborate with the Grants Manager and other global team members to design and submit compelling funding proposals, tailored to specific grant requirements and regional needs
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies that leverage the organization’s relationships with donors, partners, and government agencies to maximize financial support
- Strategic Planning:
- Develops and executes a strategic plan for the growth and sustainability of funds, including budgeting, resource allocation, and long-term planning
- Contribute to the organization’s regional strategy by identifying opportunities for growth, resource expansion, and program sustainability in East Africa
- Assist in the development of long-term fundraising and partnership goals that align with the nonprofit’s broader global mission and regional objectives
Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with government representatives, funding bodies, and community leaders to advocate for the nonprofit’s programs and initiatives
- Provide regular updates to the CEO and global team on the status of partnerships, fundraising progress, and regional opportunities
- Attend regional and international conferences, networking events, and forums to represent the organization and build key relationships
Collaboration with Global Team:
- Work in close collaboration with the Grants Manager and other members of the global development team to ensure a unified approach to fundraising and program development
- Share knowledge and insights on regional trends, partner opportunities, and the funding landscape with global colleagues to inform global strategy
Leadership and Management:
- Interfaces with leadership in HQ and Kenya and Uganda offices to start
- Oversees grants management and other Africa based team responsible for business development activities
