Job description

Under the supervision of the Project Director with a dotted reporting line to the Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for financial and administrative management, compliance and support the financial management capacity of challenge fund recipients and partners receiving project funds for the implementation of project activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support development and management of policies and procedures that assure transparency in the grants processes
  • Facilitate developing the call for proposals and advertising the call; support review, shortlisting and recommendation of proposals of eligible grant recipients; and preparation of contracts/agreements
  • Assist in the timely processing, disbursement and management of grants for approved proposals
  • Support coordination of the project’s grants accounting, reporting, compliance and risk management processes in compliance with donor regulations and WUSC policies
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, annual and other statutory project reports
  • Coordinate and provide technical assistance and capacity development of grant recipients, to facilitate effective planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of grants
  • Facilitate documentation and dissemination of new lessons and experiences in grant management
  • Compile monthly and annual grant reports and assist in quarterly dashboard preparation and periodic donor reports
  • Support the Finance Manager in coordinating internal and external audit activities
  • Assist in establishing and managing accurate and timely financial records in accordance with overarching regulatory and contractual donor and WUSC requirements
  • Support the Finance Manager in effectively and efficiently managing budgeting, cash flow and expenditure processes
  • Under the guidance of the Finance Manager, assist in providing overall financial analysis, management advice and technical assistance to the project team and partner organizations, as required
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, Economics, Project Management, Development Studies or other related fields
  • At minimum of 3 years of relevant experience managing financial, grant and capacity building activities with various stakeholders
  • Experience in finance and grant management with international donors
  • Proven skills in project management, documentation, monitoring and evaluation and budget management
  • Experience using SAGE 50 accounting software would be an asset
