Job description

We are seeking on behalf of our valued client, an experienced and dynamic individual to lead the Commercial Banking division in Ghana. The Head of Commercial Banking will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the commercial banking portfolio, managing a dedicated team, and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Banking Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial banking strategy that aligns with the bank’s overall goals and objectives.

Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with commercial clients, understanding their unique needs, and providing tailored banking solutions.

Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of the commercial banking portfolio, ensuring the quality and profitability of lending activities.

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of commercial banking professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.

Risk Management: Implement robust risk management practices to minimize credit and operational risks within the commercial banking division.

Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth by identifying opportunities for cross-selling banking products and services to commercial clients.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all banking regulations and policies, keeping the bank’s operations in line with legal and regulatory requirements.

Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and changes in the economic and business environment to adapt the commercial banking strategy accordingly.

Budget Management: Manage the budget for the commercial banking division, optimizing resource allocation for maximum efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commercial banking, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghana’s commercial banking market, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful commercial banking strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and competitive banking environment.
