The contracted personnel will be required to maintain & ensure maximum uptime of the United Nations Mission’s equipment / server rooms with due regard to data integrity & security. Additionally, s / he will also technically assist & support all other field office locations throughout the mission area whenever required

Role objectives

• Maintain HPE Synergy 12000, C7000, ProLiant BL460c, DL380, DL580, DL585 Servers, Storage HPE 3PAR 9450, HP P2000, MSA 2312, P2000 Fiber Channel SAN & HP P4300/ P4500/ 4730 ISCSI SAN, Virtual Connect & others as & when required.
• Install, configure, maintain, deploy & provide full range of assistance on the operation & administration of virtual infrastructure such as VMware SimpliVity, Esxi, vCenter, VDI, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, IP address, DNS, DHCP, internet proxy settings, Symantec Enterprise Product antivirus and Microsoft Defender.
• Maintain VMware replication between ICT equipment / server rooms for Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity (DRBC) using VMware Replication appliance such as HP 2040 SAN Storage, Veritas, Symantec backup systems & tape management.
• Coordinate with other units regarding essentials needed for equipment / server rooms to operate smoothly covering coordination of faulty air condition replacement, power supply with backup generator, UPS & networking for connectivity.
• Install, configure, maintain & monitor replication status of mission critical data to tier 2 offsite location in United Nations Global Support Center (UNGSC) through EMC Data Domain DD2500 as part of DRBC Plan.
• Identify & rectify any replication issues such networking & other errors.
• Configure, monitor & deploy Office 365 suite, Microsoft Windows OS & updates & other Microsoft SCCM software deployments.
• Maintain install & configured VMware Horizon 7.4 VDI infrastructure with its components like Horizon View Administrator, View Composer & SQL database.
• Provide tier 2 support to service desk & field offices as & when required.
• Monitor daily, weekly & monthly backup of shared drives & other critical server images using Symantec NetBackup ensuring data integrity, availability & compliance with OICT / UNGSC guidelines by carrying out periodic test restore to maintain data availability & integrity of critical systems.
• Plan & monitor asset life cycle management by ensuring timely acquisition & disposal of hardware for replacements & / or future requirements.
• Maintain & document all server access control for audit trail.
• Monitor user activity in compliance with UN ICT guidelines, policies & procedures.
• Monitor all software & hardware products ensuring compliance with UN standards & systems.
• Able to write & edit technical documentation.
• Must be diligent & reliable delivering high quality work within tight deadlines.
• Ability to write & edit technical documentation.
• Provide product specific training whenever required.
• Be on call & provide 24 x 7 support to troubleshoot issues or problems when required especially during crisis & emergency situations.
• Perform any other ICT duties & tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
• Qualifications
• Degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, computer engineering or other related field.
• Must have at least 8 years of working experience relating to the required technical knowledge written above.
• Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Design Expert Data Center Virtualization 2024 & ITIL Foundation are required.
• Knowledge on cloud platform like Microsoft Azure & Amazon Web Services (AWS) are desirable.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Microsoft Server operating systems & VMware products.
• Experience in South Sudan is desirable.
• Must have a national driver’s license & able to drive a light motor vehicle with manual transmission.
