 Task and Responsibilities

The maintenance agent/cook will be responsible for:

Sweep the floor of indoor and outdoor areas every morning (taking care not to damage electrical equipment such as inverters, electrical wires, etc.);

Thoroughly wash the floor and other areas at least three times a week;

Dust furniture and walls as well as the inside of cabinets daily (taking care not to damage the equipment in the dusted areas);

Clean office sinks, toilets and washrooms once a day;

Clean and dispose of office waste at least once a day;

Clean office windows at least once a week;

Keep the kitchen clean at all times. Be sure to clean the inside of the refrigerator at least once a week;

Maintain the outdoor areas (terrace) around the office and water the plants if necessary;

Inform the supervisor of any necessary repairs or replacements of maintenance equipment;

Dust desks, walls and cabinets daily (taking care not to damage office equipment in dusted areas);

Plan monthly the purchase of all cleaning supplies to be submitted to the line manager (cleaning liquid, trash bags, soap, toilet paper, etc.)

Maintain garden areas around the office.

Inform the supervisor of any necessary repairs or replacements of maintenance equipment;

Making tea or coffee for formal meetings/occasions

These tasks are not exhaustive and are likely to be readjusted according to operational needs while respecting the role of the maintenance agent.

4. Required qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a similar position;
  • Professional experience of at least 1 year in maintenance;
  • Experience with an international NGO is an asset;
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented and creative in problem solving;
  • Proficiency in French (spoken, written, and oral);
  • Knowledge of local languages ​​including Fulfulde, Hausa, Mafa, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of English is an asset;
  • Environmental control

5. General regulations 

  • The employee must follow DRC’s instructions regarding security, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and the Humanitarian Responsibility Framework 
  • The employee must not carry out any other paid activity during the duration of the DRC contract without prior authorization. 
  • The Employee shall not engage in any activity that may be detrimental to DRC or the implementation of any project during the term of the DRC contract. 
  • The employee must not give interviews to the media or publish photos related to DRC programs or share other materials without receiving prior authorization. 
  • The employee must return all equipment loaned by DRC to perform the work after the end of the contract period or upon request by DRC.
