Job description

The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent organizational and time  management skills. Must have strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a solid  understanding of building, property and facilities maintenance, repairs, refurbishments,  cleaning and managing a staff team and prioritizing the workload/needs. Should be willing to  take good care of the all AWC properties with high sense of responsibility, quality and  accountability.

The position has a six month probation period.

Qualifications:  

  • At least Five years of experience in maintenance and facilities management – displaying multi-disciplinary-skills, quality workmanship and attention to detail.
  •  Minimum of Three years’ experience in similar lead role (as maintenance supervisor/manager/leader)
  • Someone who is able to manage/monitor/coordinate maintenance/develop workers  and has excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Someone with a good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Clean and Valid drivers license
  • Intermediate mechanical skills /experience
  • Have good contact list or good connection with contractors/suppliers that are relevant to the supervisory position.
  • Good attitude, willingness to work hard and to learn
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situation and
  • Ability to multitask, coordinate, organise, delegate and inspect

The success of your department will depend on Team Work, it is important to delegate many of  these tasks, but just as important to work alongside your colleagues.

  • Always availability to take weekend and night shifts
  • Able to communicate effectively in both Krio and English

Responsibilities and Duties: 

➢ Responsible to monitor/organize/lead/coordinate/supervise and manage maintenance  team to use the utmost best performance of each of your subordinates.

  • Lead by example.
  • Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.
  •  Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads and against the rolling maintenance programme.
  • Coordinate and supervise daily cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee all repairs and ensure that work is completed on time.
  • Maintain all inventory and equipment, and ensure proper storage.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site (assist in  management of Health and safety throughout the site).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance work.
  • Conduct follow-ups on all maintenance and repair work
  • Be available at all times to solve problems and provide solutions to all maintenance  related issues
  • Check/delegate/supervise – vehicle licenses, insurance documentation in the glove  compartment and display discs and report one month prior to the expiry date.
  •  Review maintenance and mileage log book regularly and report whenever there is  abnormalities
  • Mentor and develop the Deputy Maintenance Team Lead and other team members.
  •  Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all AWC properties (i.e. generators, vehicles,  fuel station and garage area, drainages…etc)
  • Report any safety issues, accidents or maintenance requirements promptly to the  Operations Manager and Country Director. 
  • Make sure both the interior and exterior of AWC compound is clean and maintained at  all times.
  • Make sure you and your team member follows the daily cleaning schedule. See the  details in the attached table down below. Note: the table below is subject to review and  update as need arises.
  • Participate when necessary, in the cover of the driving of the emergency vehicle.
  • Remain contactable at all times.
  • Any other task allocated by Maintenance Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader,  Operations Manager or Country Director.

Daily  • Water supply– Filling water tanks

– Make sure there is enough water in the reservoirs

– GUMA supply – fill reservoirs 1 (car park) and 2 (OPC)

Monday • Cleaning / Tidy– Both Generators

– The garage area

– In the solar battery storage

– Fuel station

Tuesday • Cleaning / Tidy– Back of team house

– Back of maternity

– Back of immunization area

– All drainages

Wednesday • Cleaning– Outside the perimeter and also areas where cleaning is  necessary

• Light bulbs – check for blown light bulbs and replace

Thursday  • Cleaning– All vehicles
Friday • Cleaning– All the gutters in the compound
