Reporting to the Project Controls Lead.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Calculating material quantities and costs, labour costs, and an achievable project timeframe
- Negotiating labour contracts and schedules
- Monitoring business partners/contractors, construction progress, and material needs, including any changes that may impact costs
- Preparing labour and supplier accounts for payment
- Writing reports detailing costs and progress for clients
- Reviewing and agreeing to business partner’s conditions to use various forms of contract, although mainly NEC and JCT
- Monitoring and reporting of costs of individual contracts
- Carrying out and monitoring the applications for payments, following up and resolving late or disputed monies due
- Contract administration
- Carrying out checks on the creditworthiness of clients and where necessary, securing additional credit insurance and/or agreeing on a suitable payment process
- Monitor project’s performance and visit sites regularly and where necessary report risk to the Project Controls Lead
- Assist with ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations
- Assist with ensuring that the financial aspects, risk and potential impact of a contract managed on the Project behalf
- Knowledge of managing subcontract accounts from procurement through to final account
- Knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes
- Completing and presenting project variations
- Identification, valuation and Project approval processing of variations
- Preparation of Final Accounts with full supporting pack
- Assist with providing accurate commercial forecasts
- Preparation of adjudication claims/dispute resolution
- Monthly CVR analysis
- Prepare tender packages and contracts, including bills of quantities.
- Oversee and value subcontractors’ work for payments
- Provide budget/progress reports
- Managing project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all project-related costs and financial transactions.
- Provide expert advice on procurement, risk management and cost-saving measures
- Preparing BOQ (bill of quantities) by studying specification sheets from the sales team.
- Identifying gaps between BOQ and drawings, specifications and conditions of the contract and taking it for a logical closure
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Survey or equivalent
- Member of the EIZ, GSZ or equivalent
- Minimum 3-5 year’s experience in quantity surveying, preferably in construction.
- Proficient in cost estimation, analysis, and management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- First-class analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of relevant software
- Experience with project costing software
- Ability to work flexibly and make decisions quickly
